Overview

Robothon challenges teams to make robots perform the precise manual operations needed to disassemble electronic devices. The shared task board tests perception, positioning, and reliable physical interaction.

The supplied lab demo shows the RoboPig system working across the board with a vision-equipped cobot: approaching controls, pressing an illuminated button, and manipulating tool fixtures.

Approach

  1. 01

    Perceive the workspace

Use the wrist-mounted vision system to establish the task board and interaction points before each operation.

  2. 02

    Execute physical tasks

Coordinate the cobot and end effector for button, tool, and fixture interactions that demand repeatable positioning.

  3. 03

    Transfer the approach

For the bring-your-own-device task, the team applied its capabilities to a mobile-phone diagnostic system for electronics recycling.

Outcome

RoboPig placed third at Robothon during Automatica in Munich and received EUR 2,000. The event brought together 31 developers from eight teams across four countries.
